Together with Remy, Tim and Frank I teamed up to give a workshop about paper rollercoaster making.
Tim was the only expert of the group since he was the one that has done it before, nevertheless we checked online for a few techniques. How do you built the rollercoaster and make special tricks like loopings?
Frank worked on the presentation and told the class how we were going to ruin origami and make it into one nasty greasy hamburger.
We divided the group into two teams by giving random even and uneven numbers. One team started full with enthusiasm in the hallway while the other team had a bit slower start.
The team in the hallway used the stairs and its gravity to get the marbles rolling. They attracted a lot of attention from students passing by. “Yup this is what we do in the fourth grade.”
Luckily the other team also got some extra motivation and used another staircase for their rollercoaster.
The workshop went a bit hectic and it’s hard to motivate students. For the next time it would be better if we could give them a little bit more direction so that they know what to do. Nevertheless I think it went pretty well and we had a good time!
