This week a group of interns and me visited each other’s companies to see what we do and secretly compare them.
On Wednesday we crossed the country by visiting TamTam in Delft, Sanoma in Hoofddorp and Dunck in Utrecht.
TamTam was an impressing company that counts over 120 employees. My first impression was ‘ Wow fancy’. TamTam consisted of huge office areas with glass walls. The presentation room had a whiteboard wall where previous brainstorms were scribbled on. Jeffrey told us about the projects he was working on and that they give a small booklet to the contractor with every pitch they had.
Sanoma is the biggest publisher in the Netherlands. Lysanne worked there as a web editor for girls magazines like the Fancy or the Yes. The building in Hoofddorp was the size of a shopping centre. It gave a very impersonal and corporate impression.
Dunck is a marketing and communications office in Utrecht. The communication manager took us to a bar to talk more about Dunck and us. With a relaxed environment we learned more about the company and the person himself.
After visiting these three companies we were exhausted and went home. The next day we visited five companies in Amsterdam.
NRG 3 was the first one on the agenda. I loved the building. They had a balcony on the inside that overlooked the office. NRG is a company that specializes in concepting and development. With major clients as Coca Cola they did some amazing stuff.
Rhinocreations was next. Lianne and I led everyone to the conference where she told everybody about Rhinocreations and I told them about my work.
Artmiks was a studio that focused on print and online. Benny told us he worked on the logo and the style of a pillow company while we sat on a relaxing sofa.
Driebit is a company that specializes in front-end development. My mentor from school used to work here and my front-end developer teacher still does. Bilal had developed his Flash skills at this company and also set up a website with a colleague in one day.
Blammo was the last one. The Game Kings producers were located in the North of Amsterdam and we had to take the ferry to get there. Game Kings is a television show that airs every Saturday morning on TMF. During the tour I sat in the studio where the show is being recorded. The working area looked like one big gamers room with posters and huge figures of famous characters.
It definitely was very interesting to see everyone’s company. Especially the interior caught my interest. Also talking to the people from the company gave a good insight of what they do and how they do it.
