Who is Esther?
A passionate and lively woman who has a love for life. I’m always looking ahead to what my next dream or fulfillment will be.
Favorite place on Earth?
Amsterdam! Although I’m passionate about experiencing different places and cultures, I always love coming home. Amsterdam is a small town with a big city ego. The place is vibrant, especially during summer where I spend my days on the canals, drinking prosecco in the park with friends, or riding my bicycle.
Are you a full-time traveller?
No, I’m an experienced visual designer based in Amsterdam. I don’t work freelance but I have the privilege to work for various renowned organizations where I create online and offline marketing and communication assets.
I have been lucky to be able to go on multiple long-term solo trips. But most years I use all my PTO days to travel.
Why this blog iamtravelgirl?
I started this blog in 2014 when I went on my first solo backpacking trip through Southeast Asia for 6 months. To get around, I had to scour through multiple websites for useful information about transportation, visas, sim-cards, atms and more. I wanted to provide clear and interesting information for future travelers.
Other interests?
I have a crazy mix of hobbies that aligns with my broad interests. I love travel and photography of course, but I also drive a motorcycle, know about electronics and I’m very much into finances. I’m fit but also enormously lazy.
