Who is Esther?
A passionate and lively woman who doesn’t sit still. I’m always looking ahead what my next dream or fulfilment will be.
Where did the passion of travel come from?
As a kid we went on vacation about 3 or 4 times a year. This mostly was within Europe but at the age of 9 we also went to the United States and skiing in Vail. I’ve grown up knowing a bit of the world.
When I finished high school in the Netherlands I went to one of my favorite countries to do an exchange year and was a Senior at an American high school. Back in the Netherlands I started college and chose tourism as a degree. After completion I started at the University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam to get my Bachelor degree in Communication & Multimedia Design; something that was a lot closer to my professional interests.
After working for a few years at a company in the travel industry as a content manager I decided I wanted to travel for a long time. In 2014 I went on a backpacking trip through South East Asia. I did this trip by myself and it was liberating. I loved the freedom and explore the world without any limits.
Any future plans for long-term travel?
At this moment I work again full time as a visual designer. For now I’m going on long-haul vacations at least two times a year. But I’m always pondering with the thought to have another long trip to South America or Australia. Who knows what the future brings.
I have a crazy mix of hobbies that aligns with my broad interests. I like travel and photography of course, but I also drive a motorcycle, watch anime, cosplay, know about electronics and computers. I’m fit but also enormously lazy.

WHAT I DO?
Travelling around the world has always been a passion but received its extra spark in 2013 when I decided to backpack throughout South East Asia. The travel bug hasn’t stopped since. I’m a fan of both city trips within Europe as long distance destinations.
In 2001 I learned the basics of (analogue) photography during a high school year in the United States. In 2007 I picked up the digital SLR again and haven’t stopped since. My love for photography mostly contains of portraits and landscapes.
During office hours I’m a visual designer. With a Bachelor degree in Communication & Multimedia Design my focus is on web design, marketing and user experience. I made this website by myself. Need a website? Send me a message.
