Last weekend our journey to West USA started. My mom and I met at Amsterdam Airport on Saturday at 8 am. We should have a flight to San Diego with a stopover in Washington, but we were scheduled on another plane that had a stop in Houston, Texas instead. Which was better because now we had one long flight of 11 hours and a shorter flight of 3 hours. Plus we arrived an hour earlier in San Diego.
We went through customs in Houston which is usually quite horrible with unpleasant customs attendees but the guy that helped us actually was pretty nice. So kudos to him!
Arriving at the car rental station I realized I ordered a smaller car than I thought. Not wanting to drive in a compact car, we upgraded to a nice fullsize Dodge Charger. I think it’s an awesome car, my mom thinks it’s a mobster car.
On the first day we had a huge jetlag. We woke up in the middle of the night. Well this 2nd day I still do because I’m typing this at 3 am.
San Diego is nice. We visited Balboa Park which is a nice park in the city center. After that we went to the Gaslamp quarter where we had breakfast/lunch and then went to Coronado beach where I put my feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
We ended the day with a bit of shopping. I got a prepaid sim card for one month from t-mobile with unlimited 2G internet and free international calls to landlines for $60. So I can get get online anywhere which is good for an internet junkie like me 🙂
Next stop: Los Angeles
Dodge Charger beste auto 😉
