We took a break from the whole National Park tour and went rafting on the Colorado river. I’ve been whitewater rafting before 10 years ago in Maine and although the water wasn’t as wild as last time it still was lots of fun. Between the easy rafting on the low water we did have some nice rapids to get the excitement I needed.
After another tasty breakfast at Denny’s we drove towards Monument Valley. We stopped at Natural Bridges NP; a small national park which had some nice bridges. We took the trail towards Owachomo Bridge and made some pictures. When I was ready to pack up my gear, my tripod bag caught wind and was blown into the canyon. Fortunately the rest of my gear is okay.
The drove continued on and we stopped for a milkshake. The place was run by a creepy owner but we needed to charge some batteries. We were the only ones in the so-called restaurant and I was really creeped out, what if he put something in our drinks or do something to us in the middle of nowhere? But we came out okay 🙂
The day ended in Monument Valley. Here we saw the famous three rock formations and drove the first part of the rocky road into the park. When we drove out it was so dusty inside the park. We stopped at a little shop run by an Indian where we both bought a handmade necklace.
Driving to the hotel we were lucky to see a rainbow next to a rock formation in the golden sun. And we were lucky, right after our picture, the rainbow disappeared.
