Going to Alcatraz, we set the alarm clock early for the 10 am boat tour. Before my visit I didn’t understand what the fuss was all about. It’s just a prison. But when you’re there it’s very real. They also put a lot of thought into the audio tour which was very informative but also fun to listen to with all the story telling. The prison reminded me of my favorite movie; The Shawshank Redemption.
After a grim prison morning we explored the rest of San Francisco. Walked along Pier 39 and Fisherman’s wharf. My mom walked into a massage parlor so
I went after her. Here we got some a nice treatment for our shoulders and back. She got a electric massage thingy and a heat sack for shoulder and back for the both of us.
I wanted to visit Lombard Street with the cable carts. Only there was a 1 hour line to get on one of those. So we walked up the streets from San Francisco. Yes, those steep ones that you might recognize from the movies.
After a little bit of shopping we ended the day in Fisherman’s Wharf where my mom had a clam chowder and I enjoyed a fine steak.
P.S. it’s cold here in San Francisco! I guess it really is similar to the Dutch weather.
