I made it to Singapore! What a relief to be in a place again where I can understand everyone and everything. I love this place! It’s clean, modern and easy to get around. After spending a few days here, these are my personal highlights.
Marina Bay
When you think of Singapore, the image of Marina Bay Sands comes to mind; an awkward building design that apparently won loads of prices.
This area is full of modern architecture that I simply loved to photograph.
Gardens by the Bay
This park is unlike any other. A futuristic place with gardens from Singapore’s different cultures. The free area is lovely to simply stroll around through. What sure caught my eye was the Supertree grove (see photo). For an admission fee you can walk the skyway and enter the flower and forest domes.
MRT
Using the metro is such a pleasant way of moving around, especially after months of crappy busses and minivans. It’s clean and efficient and apparently they also have a check-in and check-out system just like they introduced in the Netherlands couple of years ago.
Swissotel Rooftop Bar
Yayy, it’s free! With a private elevator you go to the 70th floor where a high-class restaurant and bar awaits you. Good to just have one drink and enjoy the view.
China Town / Little India / Kampong Glam
These districts are the Chinese, Indian and Malay areas of Singapore. All have their own appeal with their unique streets, shops and religious buildings. In these areas you really see how multi cultural Singapore really is.
Sentosa Island
Sentosa Island is the amusement area of Singapore which needed an article of its own.
