This year is the 14th edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival. Between 11 November 2025 until 18 January 2026 the city center of Amsterdam is illuminated by various bright artwork.
From Amsterdam Central Station you can walk a 6.5 km loop along Nemo science museum, the Nieuwe Herengracht, crossing the Amstel river at the Blauwbrug, and walk the entire Herengracht until you’re back at Central Station. Viewing all the artwork is totally free!
I always prefer doing the walking route as it’s an actual nice walk through the center and you get to take better photos of the light installations. To make sure you’re not missing one and to get more information (reading or audio) download the ALF app for β¬6,99 in the Appstore.
Another option is one of the many boat operators offering tours, as all the installations are along the canals.
