Sicily in 7 days
From Rome Termini station we took the high speed train which brought us safely in Florence within 1.5 hours. Our hotel was close to the station and luckily we were able to check in immediately. We left our bags in the room and were ready to explore the city.
We took bus line 12 that dropped us at the other side of the river at Piazzala Michelangelo. From here we had splendid views of Florence, the river and the three main churches. After a few pictures we walked downhill, crossed the river into the old center.
At this moment it was starting to pour down with rain. Since we were also craving for some lunch, we walked into a local dark looking restaurant. They served freshly made pizza and pasta, perfect! By the time we filled our bellies and topped it off with some tiramisu for dessert, the skies were clear again.
Florence is filled with squares and even more churches. And although there are plenty of tourists filling the streets, it wasn’t as massively touristy as in Rome. The church Santa Maria is definitely the main site of Florence. We were astonished by this enormous, but also detailed place of God.

One of the other main attractions is the Ponte Vecchio. This is not your regular bridge, it houses buildings on top of it filled solely with jewelry shops.

Florence surely was worth a visit, but make sure to just plan it in one day. That at least was a perfect amount of time for us.
