Cruising with the Easy Riders
From the first moment I set foot in Vietnam I’m already loving this country. You read a lot about scams and people trying to trick you, but so far I can only be more than positive about the Vietnamese.
Maybe it helps being a solo traveler who doesn’t follow the touristy crowds?
It started taking the bus from the airport to the center. Strangely enough all the tourists go for the $15 taxi ride. For only 30 cents you take bus #17 to the Old Quarter. Being the only Westerner on the bus, this nice guy comes sit next to me helping me out with directions and even walked me to my hotel.
The traffic is just how I like it. Yes, it’s busy with lots of mopeds driving everywhere. Just think you have an invisible force field around you and slowly cross the street. All the vehicles make their way around you.
The Old Quarter is filled with all types of cute little shops. In one of the galleries I saw a painting I liked and bought 2 similar ones from the artist and shipped them back home.
