
Luckily Hoi An has a lot more to offer besides tailored suits. The ancient town is an UNESCO world heritage site full of colorful houses with a hint of both Chinese and French architecture.
After walking around in the overly touristic center for one day, I was happy to rent a motorbike and see some of the surroundings. For the more lazy and convenient traveler you can also book a tour. I found out that going to places independently is much more fun. And a bit more adventurous too 🙂
The last few months I received many compliments for being well prepared. Also today I went out with my hired motorbike to the temple complex My Son. My iPad was loaded with Google Map screenshots to find my way around. And I did, without any wrong turns 🙂
On the way back I passed gorgeous rice fields and needed to take a picture. But as soon as I turned off the engine, the key broke! Luckily two passing ladies noticed my distress and walked with me to the nearest house. Someone came out with a wrench to turn the broken key thus starting the engine and I was on my way again.
After making it back safely and exchanging bikes, I drove to the Marble Mountains in Da Nang; a big rock in a flat landscape covered with caves and pagodas. From the top you have 360° of breath taking views.
