On the second day in Budapest we checked out Buda (the West side of the Danube river).
From our apartment we walked across the Chainbridge to Buda. From here you can reach the top to the palace by either a funicular railway, or walk. Inspecting the short distance uphill, we climbed the stairs.
The palace on Castle Hill was less impressive up close, so we walked further to the Matthias Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion. Both did not disappoint and I was awed by these impressive pieces of architecture.

By now the intense sun really gave in, which gave us the perfect excuse to visit the local Starbucks Coffee for a cooling Frappuccino. After regained back some energy we continued going down, along the Danube river to Margaret-sziget (island). Along the river we had picture-perfect views of the astonishing Parliament building.
The Parliament (definitely our highlight of Budapest)
On Margaret-sziget it was time to finally relax and we dipped our feet in the Music Fountain. At that moment we were even given a show, yayy.

At this time we already walked for about 15 kilometers and worked up quite the appetite, time to treat ourselves to a tasty lunch.
Yummie hamburger and wiener schnitzel for us
Pretty view from Buda towards Pest
Relaxing 🙂
