On our last day my friend Wendy and I took the opportunity to visit a traditional Hungarian thermal bath. Since Budapest is well known for their thermal baths and has plenty to choose from, we had to experience this for ourselves.
Before starting our spa treatment, we first climbed Castle Hill; the highest hill in Budapest. Although I read about exhausting walks on Tripadvisor, I thought this was a fairly easy walk with well maintained steps that will get you to the top in about 20 minutes. Once you’ve reached it, you’re treated with the best view in Budapest.

After taking some pictures, we walked downhill again and headed for Rudas Bath where we were offered 3 types of bathing options. We took the traditional thermal bath.
I was able to rent a towel and we received private cabins to change into our bathing suits.
The thermal bath consisted of one big bath and a few smaller baths with different temperatures. We even checked out the steam cabin, but yikes this was hot. We ran out screaming and laughing and poured a bucket of ice-cold water over ourselves.
