
With a winter storm passing over the entire country, everyone in the Netherlands forgot all about Covid-19 this past week.
It started with a snow storm and followed by a week of freezing temperatures. The questions everyone asked: “Will there be an Elfstedentocht (an 11 city ice skating event in Friesland) this year”? But one thing was for sure, by the end of the week we were able to go on our lakes and canals.
When the ice was thick enough (we consider 5 cm / 2 inches as thick enough) we all went outside! Everyone seemed to be in a super happy mood, which was definitely needed with all the lockdown restrictions.
I also was super happy; when we bought our apartment I fantasized about these canals during winter time and that it would be perfect for ice skating. So I immediately seized this moment.
