From Victoria we were headed for a 4 hour drive towards Ucluelet, or Ukee for the locals. Not without first stopping at our favorite breakfast place; Dennys.
Now was the time to fully enjoy our bright red Dodge Charger rental car on the road. Along the way towards Pacific Rim we stopped at Little Qualicum Falls and Cathedral Grove.

Hiking
On the first day in Ucluelet the weather was drizzly, thus our whale watching tour was rebooked to the other day in Tofino. Of course I wouldn’t let a bit of rain ruin my day, bought an umbrella and hiked some of the trails.
The Lighthouse loop had marvellous views of the ocean and of course the Lighthouse.
The Rainforest trail consisted of two 1km loops from the parking lot. These board walks took us along dense vegetation and humongous trees.
The Combers Beach trailhead was a small walk towards the 16km of stretched out sandy beach.
Whale watching
The second day in the Pacific Rim National Park we drove to Tofino, a more laid back surfer town. The whale watching tour was with Jamies on a larger cruiser boat. On the water we came across a grey whale and a group of orcas, very impressive! Unfortunately no photos as my wideangle lens is pretty useless for these type of shots.
When our tour ended at 17.00, we still had a 2.5 hour drive to go towards Parksville. With road construction we arrived at 20.30 and didn’t see much of Parksville. In the morning we took the ferry back to mainland Canada. Next stop, Whistler.
